Classic Mini Outer CV Joint – Disc Brake Type 1984–2000 – GCV1013

The Classic Mini outer CV joint GCV1013 is a complete replacement unit designed for all Mini models fitted with front disc brakes (except 997/998 Cooper 7” brakes – use GCV1105 for this). This CV kit includes early performance models such as the Cooper S and 1275GT with 7.5" discs, as well as Clubman GT’s and all Minis from 1984 onwards fitted with 8.4" disc brakes.

Supplied as a comprehensive kit, this outer CV joint includes grease, rubber boot, metal fixing straps, drive shaft spring clip and drive flange nut, ensuring everything required for installation is included. It is designed to restore smooth power delivery from the drivetrain to the front wheels.

All Mini models from 1984 onwards (8.4" discs)

Important Fitment Note:

What are CV Joints?

CV joints (Constant Velocity joints) are fitted to all Classic Minis at both ends of the drive shafts. Their role is to transfer torque from the gearbox to the wheels while allowing for suspension movement and steering articulation.

The outer CV joints connect the drive shafts to the wheel hubs, while the inner CV joints connect the drive shafts to the differential and gearbox .

Common CV Joint Problems

A CV joint operates using high-performance grease and is sealed by a protective rubber boot . When this boot becomes damaged, grease can escape and contaminants such as dirt and moisture can enter, leading to accelerated wear and eventual failure.

Symptoms of a Failing CV Joint

• Clicking noise when turning
• Clunking during acceleration or deceleration
• Humming or growling noise from the front of the vehicle
• Vibration or shudder under acceleration
